Class on 9/18/14

Class on 9/18/14

Today in class we started a new unit called Population and Migration. We learned that over 7 billion people live on the planet, that is about 73 million people per year. 90% of this population growth takes place in developing countries of Africa, South and East Asia, and Latin America. We also learned that developing countries mean countries are still developing their economy and technology etc... Some of the statistics that we learned were it took 10,000 years to hit 1 billion people. It took 33 years to hit 3 billion people. It took 13 years to hit 5 billion people, and 12 years to hit 7 billion people. We also talked about life expectancy and why women have a higher life expectancy then men. Women have a higher life expectancy then men because men hold tougher jobs. For example lumberjack, military, professional football player etc... It was found that in the U.S. men have an average 76.05 years and women have 81.05 years. Overall it was a productive class today.
