Religion Discussion

Today in class we talked about Religion in Cultural Geography. Religion can be both a unifying or dividing force around the world. There are five major religions in the world today, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. They all have millions of followers that all are believing the same thing. However, Hindus and Muslims fight in India, and there have been conflicts between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. They have been slaughtering each other even though they are believe the same thing! They think that their religion teaches what is right, and is better than others when they believe the same thing, that is absolutely ridiculous. Then Mr.Schick told us about his experiences with religion from practicing Buddhism and now practicing Christianity. He told us about his beliefs about how he think that there is no Heaven or Hell, and that when we die, we die we don't go anywhere. Then Karson told the class about a story involving a medium, I think there is some truth to what mediums say but maybe not all. Mr. Schick then told us about a very creepy story about how when he was about to go on a green light and hand pulled him back, when there was nobody else in the car and a catering truck sped by and probably would have killed him if he went. That story actually gave me chills just listening. I believe that God has a plan for everyone, and that he had something planned for Mr.Schick, so that he didn't go on that green light.
